Below you’ll find details of key new supplements and journals that have been added to Westlaw UK. There’s also an update to the White Book, with additional content bringing it up-to-date with the new Supreme Court Rules.

CONSULT THE VERY LATEST VERSION OF THE WHITE BOOK

The new 2nd Supplement to the White Book will be available on Westlaw UK from 1 October 2009 subject to successful testing.

It contains the new Supreme Court Rules, Practice Directions and Forms, together with expert commentary, which come into force on 1 October.

The 2nd Supplement will ensure you have all the new Rules plus the expert guidance of the
White Book team led by Professor Ian Scott, General Editor of the White Book, and including consultant editors Jenny Rowe, Chief Executive of the UK Supreme Court, and Ian Sewell,
Costs Clerk of the UK Supreme Court.

The Second Supplement also includes:

   Amendments to the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions introduced by:
         -
The Civil Procedure (Amendment) Rules 2009 (SI 2009/2092)
         -
TSO CPR Update 50
 •  The new Practice Direction 51D on Defamation Proceedings Costs Management Scheme, a costs
    management pilot scheme;
   New commentary on sections included in Part 35 on Experts and Assessors;
   A completely revised Part 63 on Patents and Other Intellectual Property Claims and Practice
    Direction;
   A new Practice Direction relating to Companies Act Proceedings resulting from the Companies
    Act 2006 coming into force;
 •  The new eighth edition of the Admiralty and Commercial Courts Guide and related commentary. It
    accounts for changes made by the Long Trials Working Party and the Commercial Court e-working
    pilot;
   Updated guidance on Part 36 offers before the commencement of proceedings;
   Updates to the Court Funds Office special and basic account interest rates;

GET THE LATEST INFORMATION ON NEGLIGENCE

The new 3rd Supplement to the 11th Edition of Charlesworth & Percy on Negligence is now available on Westlaw UK. The foremost guide to this complex area of the law, it provides an unrivalled depth of analysis into the torts of negligence and nuisance. 

Fully integrated into the main text, the new supplement includes updates all the latest key case law including:

 •  Van Colle v Chief Constable of Hertfordshire; Smith v Chief Constable of Sussex [2008] 3 W.L.R.
    593 HL (liability of police towards individuals who are victims of crime).

EXPAND YOUR RESEARCH WITH EVEN MORE JOURNALS
NOW ON WESTLAW UK

We are delighted to announce the addition of three further journals to Westlaw UK.

The first, The Journal of Housing Law, published by Sweet & Maxwell, is now available. Designed to provide regularly updated coverage of housing law issues in England and Wales, the journal includes:

 •  Editorial which provides a critique in response to recent developments and trends in the law
 •  Articles that discuss and analyse areas of current interest
 •  Digests of latest cases, articles and legislative developments

Published six times a year, coverage on Westlaw UK commences in 1997.

The second, Criminal Law Forum, published by Springer Publishing, will be available from
1 October 2009.  Criminal Law Forum is the Official Journal of the Society for the Reform of Criminal Law, based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

It is a peer reviewed journal dedicated to the advancement of criminal law theory, practice, and reform throughout the world. Under the direction of an international editorial board, Criminal Law Forum serves the global community of criminal law scholars and practitioners through its publication of original contributions and the dissemination of noteworthy public documents.

Published four times a year, coverage on Westlaw UK commences in 1997.

Finally, The International Journal of Law in the Built Environment, published by Emerald publishing, is available from 1 October 2009.  The International Journal of Law in the Built Environment provides a vehicle for the publication of high quality legal scholarship in the context of the design, management and use of the built environment.

It publishes up-to-date and original legal research contributions for the benefit of scholars, policy makers and practitioners in these areas, including those operating in the fields of legal practice, housing, planning, architecture, surveying, construction management, real estate and property management.
