RSS Feeds now on Westlaw UK
We are delighted to announce the ability to deliver Westlaw UK content via RSS.
RSS allows you to easily publish the latest Westlaw UK content on your intranet or have live links delivered straight to your RSS compatible browser or reader. You can also incorporate IP authentication into your feeds to allow users to link seamlessly into Westlaw UK.
RSS feeds can be created from search results or by using the Create RSS feature in the RSS directory. In addition, you can also create an RSS feed to track a full text case or journal series.
To create an RSS feed from a search result, simply run your search as normal. On the Search Results list, click the Save as RSS Feed link on the top right-hand corner of the page.

You will be directed to the Save RSS Feed page where you can name your feed and set an update frequency. You can also add IP authentication if you wish. Click Save RSS Feed to complete the process.

Once the feed has been created you can use the RSS icon to subscribe to it in a compatible browser or reader. You can also use the published link URL to place the RSS feed on an internal intranet or in another newsreader.

To create a feed from a full text journal or case report series simply browse to the relevant series and click the RSS Feed link in the top right-hand corner. The feed will be updated as soon as the report is updated.

You can use the Create an RSS Feed facility to monitor specific content types and subject areas. Click the Create an RSS Feed button from the RSS Directory. You can then select the content types and subject areas you wish to monitor.

Click Next to name your feed and select a frequency. You can then save your feed and subscribe to it as normal.
The RSS feed functionality can be added to your username and password on request. Please contact the Westlaw UK Helpdesk customer.service@westlaw.co.uk for more information. Any user can view an RSS feed created by another user.
New Linkbuilder Functionality
We are pleased to announce new functionality to create your own direct links to content on Westlaw UK. The links you create can incorporate authentication and can be used for bulletins, reading lists or publishing on intranets.
The Linkbuilder feature can be enabled on a user basis for those with an individual Westlaw UK username and password. To have Linkbuilder enabled please contact the Westlaw UK Customer Support Team on 0800 028 2200 or email customer.service@westlaw.co.uk
To create a link, simply navigate to the document, search result or search page you wish to link to and click the Build Link icon on the top right hand corner of the screen.

You will be presented with a link creation screen. Here you can choose your method of authentication. Enter an SP code for IP authentication or choose Athens Authentication for academic access. Leaving the authentication options blank will create a link that requires a username and password.

Once you are happy with your link, simply click Copy to Clipboard. The link is now ready to be pasted into any other document you choose.
Content on Westlaw UK that cannot be linked to includes:
- Search templates in commentary and Common Law Library titles - these can only be linked to at title level
- Individual commentary and Common Law Library documents

Footnotes in journals can now easily be read alongside the main text of an article with the addition of footnote text boxes.

When you click a footnote number, a box will open displaying the footnote text. To close the footnote either click on the footnote number once again or the x on the top right corner of the footnote box.
Removal of Lloyd's List
We regret to advise that Lloyd's List has recently been removed by Newsroom from Westlaw UK. This is due to our third party distributor losing the re-distribution rights for this resource.
Westclip users
Any Westclips which specifically search the LLOYDSLI database will need to be modified. All other alerts are unaffected.
