HEADLINE NEWS: Securities Law – your handy guide

The Securities Arbitration Desk Reference database (SABREF), released on Westlaw last week, brings all of your arbitration materials together in one place.

You can use SABREF to retrieve a variety of document types in a single search. In addition, authors Seth E. Lipner and Joseph C. Long provide practice guidance and commentary after each statute or rule, drawing from their decades of experience with securities arbitration proceedings. The authors also supply ample citations, most of which are linked to full text materials.

Like many secondary sources on Westlaw, SABREF can be searched using the 'Terms and Connectors' or the 'Natural Language' search method and can be browsed using the 'Table of Contents' service or the 'Previous Section' and 'Next Section' arrows. For example, to retrieve rules for key points of New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) arbitration, you could access SABREF, click Table of Contents at the Search page. Browse the headings of Chapter 2. SRO Arbitration Rules and II NYSE Arbitration Rules by clicking the appropriate plus (+) symbols.
