If you have a subscription, you’ll be able to link through to the new search page, where you can begin your research.

You’ll have the option to choose which sources you search across – Dictionaries (Jowitt, Stroud and Osborn) and/or Legislation.

Suggested search terms

As you type your search, suggested terms and phrases will appear in a dropdown box, so you know whether or not your terms are already a familiar concept on Westlaw UK.

Search results display

Your search results will be automatically split according to which definition source they have been retrieved from. Statutory definitions will be arranged alphabetically.

You can also re-sort your results by date – just click on the link in the top right-hand corner.

Our statutory definitions are updated on a daily basis.

To save you time flicking through documents, you’ll also have the option to see your search terms in the context they appear within the results by clicking Show Terms in Context in the right-hand corner.
